New Platform: Cancelling Tutoring Contracts

I’m a Tutor article!

Updated yesterday

How do I cancel a tutoring plan with a customer?

If you need to cancel your lessons altogether, you can request this via your 'Tutoring contracts' tab.

  1. Identify the contract you'd like to cancel

  2. Select 'see details'

  3. Select 'cancel contract'

  4. Select 'request cancellation'

  5. Provide a reason for your cancellation

Your request will then be sent to our Support team to action. They will be in touch via email to confirm the cancellation, or if any further information is required.

Remember to discuss any changes with your customer too, with as much notice as possible. It's a small courtesy that will have a big, positive impact. It'll help your student keep making progress, and MyTutor to bring our tutors more customers in future.

What is the notice period for cancelling a plan?

As outlined in our terms and conditions, tutors must provide a 14-day notice when cancelling a tutoring contract with a customer. This allows the customer time to find a new tutor if they wish to, without missing lessons in the meantime. They'll have help from our Support team to do so.

What happens if I cancel after lessons have already been booked?

If you cancel after lessons have been ‘ confirmed’, or ‘completed’, you are expected to fulfil the next 14 days of the contract. The cancellation date will be set for 14 days from your request, and your contract will remain ‘active’ during this time. You'll need to continue delivering lessons until the cancellation date.

What if I cancel before any lessons have been booked?

If you cancel before any lessons have been confirmed, the cancellation status will change immediately, and you won’t need to fulfil any part of the contract. We will notify the customer, process any necessary refunds, and assist them in finding a new tutor.

What happens during the 14-day notice period?

During the notice period, we will reach out to the customer to help them find a new tutor. We also ask that tutors reach out to the parent via messages as soon as they request to cancel a contract.
