What’s the application process?

I'm a tutor article! See how you become a tutor with us, from the interview to what documentation you need.

Updated this week

You can read on below to see how you become a tutor with us.

  1. First of all, you’ll need to sign up here.

  2. Then you’ll get an activation email to log into your new account and add more detail to your application.

  3. Once we’ve reviewed your application, we’ll either:

    1. Ask you for more information

    2. Invite you to interview

    3. Let you know that you don’t meet our requirements just yet

  4. If you’re invited to interview then you’ll then spend some time preparing for and recording your responses. Make sure you have a stable internet connection, a functioning microphone, and a camera for your recordings.

  5. And if your interview goes successfully, all that’s left to do is:

    1. Apply for a DBS with us (or submit one you already have)

    2. Provide referee details for your reference checks

    3. Create your profile

    4. Agree to our T&Cs

    5. Complete some training

  6. Tutoring on Schools vs. Private
If you get your reference checks during your onboarding you'll be able to start working on our Schools Programme straight away. Otherwise, you’ll be automatically migrated to our Private platform within your first week, once you’ve completed the rest of your onboarding.
If you don't get references straight away and would still like to work on our School Programme, you’ll need to submit and have 2 references approved within 12 weeks of your DBS being approved.

❗ If references aren’t received in time, you’ll need to apply for a new DBS to work with schools

Qualification Requirements

To apply for a tutor position at MyTutor, you need to provide details about your academic qualifications. These include:

  • Type, Subject, and Level of Qualifications: You must specify the qualifications that allowed you to enroll in your BSc or equivalent course, such as A-Levels or equivalent.

  • Alternative or Equivalent Qualifications: If you haven't completed standard qualifications, like GCSEs, provide equivalent certifications.

  • Supporting Documents: An official transcript or degree certificate is required alongside these qualifications.

Supporting Documentation

When submitting your qualifications, make sure you provide appropriate documentation such as official transcripts or degree certificates. It's particularly important to clarify the type of qualifications at level 3 (e.g., A-Levels) if you have noted your qualifications as 'other' in your account. In cases where qualifications are non-standard, you can share them via email, accompanied by relevant documentation.

Preparing for Your Interview Recordings

The interview recordings are your opportunity to showcase your skills and suitability as a tutor. Here's how you can prepare:
