What should I do if I'm concerned about a pupil?

As a tutor working with children, you have a responsibility to report anything that concerns you, but you're not expected to handle it alone.

Our dedicated Safeguarding team will review every concern you report and handle it sensitively and confidentially.

If you're concerned about a pupil's wellbeing or they disclose something that worries you, report it as soon as possible. Try to record the information as accurately as you can.

Report your concern using our secure safeguarding platform, CPOMS (Child Protection Online Management System).

The reporting process is the same for all safeguarding concerns, regardless of whether they happened during a Schools Programme lesson, private lesson, or group lesson.

Once you've submitted a concern through CPOMS, our Safeguarding team will receive an alert and begin reviewing it.

From your CPOMS homepage, you can view the concerns you've submitted, along with the pupil's details, the status of the concern, and the member of the Safeguarding team managing it.

If there's an update, we'll email you and ask you to log in to view it. You'll usually receive an update within 24–48 hours.

During busy periods, concerns assessed as low risk may take up to 3 days to receive a response.

Once you've submitted a concern, you can't edit it.

If you need to add more information or make a correction, submit a new concern and let us know. We'll merge the reports for you.
