What subjects can I tutor?

I'm a Tutor article! You’ll need to have achieved certain grades in each subject to be able to tutor in them.

Updated this week

At MyTutor we require our applicants to have received at least one A-Level (or equivalent) at grade B or higher.

You need certain grades to be able to tutor each subject on the Schools Programme and on the private side:

On the Schools Programme

❗ From the 11th of December 2024, any new tutors joining MyTutor will need a grade B at A Level to tutor that subject, regardless of their GCSE or University grades.

What if I was a tutor before 11th December 2024?

From the 11th of December, if you want to add a new subject to your profile, you’ll need to meet the new grade requirements.

On the private side

* To tutor National 4 and 5, Scottish Highers or IB, you'll need to have studied those levels yourself

Please note:

  • you’ll still need these grades to tutor language subjects, even if you’re a native speaker!

  • if you achieved a 7 or above in Double Science, you can tutor the three sciences separately at GCSE and KS3 levels.

  • To add either SEND Secondary or SEND Primary to your profile, you’ll need to meet our private platform grade requirement, which is having an A at A Level.

Adding extra subjects

You only need core school subjects to sign up but once you're live, feel free to add other subjects to your your profile. When you do this, our team will double check you have the right grades and then they'll approve the change within a few days.
