Why should I sign up to the DBS Update Service?
The Department for Education requires tutors to have a valid DBS check every 36 months to continue tutoring school pupils.
The DBS Update Service helps you keep your DBS check up to date and can save you the time and cost of applying for a new DBS certificate.
The service costs £16 per year.
How do I sign up to the DBS Update Service?
Once you've received your DBS certificate, you can register for the DBS Update Service on the government website.
You will need to enter your DBS certificate number when prompted and pay the annual subscription fee.
You must register within 30 days of your DBS certificate being issued.
After this deadline, you cannot join the DBS Update Service using that certificate and will need to apply for a new DBS check instead.
