How do I cancel a lesson and get a refund?

I’m a Parent article! Learn more about our refund policy and how it works.

A tutorial can be cancelled any time up to 24 hours before it starts. After this, it will be up to your tutor to decide whether or not they refund a lesson.

More than 24 hours before the lesson

If you or your tutor want to cancel the lesson, either party can Cancel from your MyTutor accounts.

  • Go to your Bookings page

  • Click Edit

  • Click Cancel lesson by the lesson you want to cancel.

    • You can cancel just one lesson, or all lessons in that slot following that date.

  • No payment will be taken.

    • You can double-check a booking has been cancelled by refreshing your bookings page.

Please note, that just discussing a lesson cancellation through your messages won’t stop a payment from being taken, so make sure to follow the steps above.

24 hours or less before the lesson

If you want to cancel the lesson:

  • No changes can be made at this stage. It’s solely up to your tutor to decide if they want to refund this or not.

Even though we can't directly help here, there’s no harm in dropping a message to your tutor to discuss this directly. And provided they’re happy to refund it, they can do this from their account.

If your tutor wants to cancel the lesson or miss a lesson:

  • They must manually refund you within 48 hours, and the payment should reach you within 8-10 working days.

If after 48 hours you've still not received confirmation of a refund, let our Support Team know and we can step in and help! Our live chat is usually the best and simplest way to get in touch!

If a lesson is cancelled or refunded, the lesson recording will not be available to view.
