Whilst we encourage tutors from the EU, EEA and Switzerland to read official government resources about how Brexit will impact you, here’s some important info on how your immigration status relates to working with MyTutor:
To tutor on our platform, you need to be classified as self-employed - and in a post-Brexit world not all Student Visas mean this is possible
As a non-UK national, in order to register as self-employed you’ll need documents to confirm your right to reside and work in the UK, which can include either settled status or pre-settled status
You don’t get to choose which status you apply for - they’re determined by how long you’ve lived in the UK
Your rights will differ depending on which status you get, but as long as you have one, you’ll be able to continue tutoring on our platform in the UK on a self-employed basis
To get either status, you need to have started living in the UK before 31 December 2020
If that sounds like you, you’ll need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme by 30 June 2021 (but it’s recommended you do it as soon as possible)

How do I apply?
You’ll need to apply by 30 June 2021. You can do that anytime between now and then by following this link (but the sooner the better)! Once confirmed, your status will generally be communicated to you electronically.

Do I need to upload anything to MyTutor?
No
What if my application is declined?
If you think the wrong decision’s been made, you can apply again, apply for an administrative review, or apply for an appeal - however these may cost money, or require you to provide new evidence.
Unfortunately, if you aren’t able to gain settled or pre-settled status (and don’t have another legal right to live and work in the UK), you’ll no longer be able to deliver tutorials as a sole trader on the MyTutor platform.
