How do I leave a review for my tutor?

Once you’ve had a lesson with your tutor, you might want to let them know what they did well or where you think they could improve.

You can leave a review up to one month after the lesson has taken place. This will appear on the tutor’s profile for other parents and students to read. Please note your first name and general location will be shown when you leave a review.

We ask that you leave written feedback with your rating to provide some useful context.

You can leave a review in two ways:

  • Go to your Bookings page and then click Previous bookings. Click Edit next to the relevant lesson and then Write review. There will be the option to provide a star rating out of 5 and a written statement.

  • Or, you can go directly to your tutor’s profile and leave a review there. Scroll down to the Ratings and reviews section and click Write review. There will be the option to provide a star rating out of 5 and a written statement.

Can I edit or delete my review?

Yes! If you’ve changed your mind or want to make any amendments, you can edit or delete your review up to 7 days after leaving it.

If you left your review on a lesson, you can edit this by going to your Bookings page, and then clicking Previous bookings. Find the lesson you left a review for and click Edit, then Edit review.

If you left a review on your tutor’s profile and would like to edit or delete it, you can do so from their profile page. You can view this by going to either your messages or bookings tab to click into your tutor’s profile. Once there, scroll down to view their reviews, find your review and click Edit.

If 7 days have passed and you would like to edit or amend your review, you can reach out to the support team at support@mytutor.co.uk to look into this for you.

What can I leave a review for?

Reviews are there to allow parents and students to express their thoughts on a tutor’s ability to teach a lesson, as well as their conduct and professionalism on site. We expect each review to be an honest and fair reflection of this.

Reviews are a really great tool for tutors to showcase themselves and their abilities to prospective parents, and your tutor will be grateful for the feedback!

Parents: If you’re unhappy with a lesson, we’d encourage you to speak directly with your tutor or reach out to our support team to assist you before writing a review. If you’d still like to leave feedback on your tutor following this, please do so in a constructive manner.

We want to encourage all tutors to manage their relationships with their clients and be proactive in receiving feedback. Feedback from parents is a great opportunity for tutors to improve your future lessons and make sure they’re giving the best tutorials possible! Our tutors are encouraged to reach out to you personally about any reviews left on their profiles. They may reach out to thank you or ask for more context.

Can my tutor reply publicly to my review?

Yes, your tutor will have the chance to leave a public reply to your review. If you’re concerned with their response, you can reach out to our support team to look into it.

We can remove a tutor reply for the following reasons:

  • If the reply contains offensive or inappropriate language.

  • If the reply contains false information or is not reflective of the experience.

  • If the tutor asks to remove the response.

Can my review be removed?

Yes, there are instances where we might remove a review. See below:

  • If the review contains offensive language.

  • If you, as the parent or student, have asked us to remove it.

  • The lesson has since been refunded.

  • If your tutor has spoken to you as the parent or student, and you’ve agreed to the removal.

  • If the review contains false information or is not reflective of the experience.

  • If the review relates to an experience which breaches our safeguarding policy.

  • If the review has been left on the tutor’s profile more than a month after your last lesson together.

  • If you’ve left more than one negative review about the same lesson/situation for the tutor in a row - this would be considered as ‘spamming’ the tutor.

  • If your review relates to a MyTutor policy that the tutor has upheld or if the situation involves tutor discretion.

Timeframe for review investigation and outcome of removal

Once we receive a request to remove a review from either a parent or tutor, we will then investigate the situation so we can make a fully informed decision. Please allow a minimum of 1 week for us to get back to you with the final outcome.

NOTE: if the matter is more complex and requires further investigation, it may take a little longer, but you will be updated throughout the process to remain informed.
