What does it mean when my pupil is crossed out?
What does it mean when my pupil is crossed out?

I’m a Tutor article! If your pupil is still crossed out, you might still need to attend your lesson.

Updated over a year ago

You might go into your Bookings and see that your pupil’s name is crossed out.

This happens when a teacher hasn’t been able to reschedule the lesson and wants to mark the pupil as absent. Understandably, you’ll want to know what to do next!

Have you received an email from us, telling you not to attend?

  • Yes, I have an email - there’s no need to attend the lesson & you’ll still get paid for your time.

  • No, I don’t have an email - you need to attend the lesson to get paid.

    • Even if the pupil doesn’t attend, you might get an in-lesson cover opportunity and the chance to earn an extra £10!

Why is this? Sometimes, teachers mark pupils as absent in advance just in case - but there’s still a chance that the pupil might attend. Or, you’ll have a 3:1 lesson where the other pupils might still turn up.

Where schools let us know that the pupil definitely won’t make it, we’ll always let you know so that you’re not sitting around waiting!
