How do I get ready for our first MyTutor lessons?

A quick runthrough of what set-up you need and what will happen on the day

Updated over a week ago

Getting all of your pupils ready for their MyTutor lessons can be quite different to their usual school lessons, so we’ve put together some tips and tricks to help everything go smoothly!

Before your lessons

  • Get familiar with your Teacher Account, so that you can use all of our handy features.

  • Make sure that all pupils have their login details and ask them to write this in their homework diary.

  • Remind pupils of where and when their lessons are taking place.

  • If lessons are taking place in school, make sure an IT room is booked and each pupil has a computer and headset.

  • Ask your IT team to check that webcams and headsets are working (even if you passed your SNT!).

Launching the lesson. Direct pupils to:

  • Load up the Schools Portal to log in.

    • Or they can click the link in the reminder email they get from us 10 minutes before their lesson.

  • Log in using their username and password.

    • If you’re having any trouble, read our article here for tips.

  • Click the Launch button - this will activate 5 minutes before the lesson starts.

  • Run through a quick set-up test, which checks that mics and cameras are all in working order.

  • They’ll meet their tutor for the first time and their first lesson will kick off!
