Marking time is a way for you to get paid for supporting students outside of lessons, such as:
Scoring past papers
Giving feedback on essays
Preparing special homework or assessments that take longer than normal lesson prep
The lesson space isn’t available for marking time, so your student will share their work with you via message, for you to mark offline, and then send back to them the same way. If the file is too big you can compress it with this free adobe tool, or send it to our support team who can forward it for you.
By booking in marking time, you can charge parents and make sure you’re compensated for the work you do.
How does a parent book Marking Time?
Parents book and pay for these sessions in the same way they do for regular lessons:
Agree to a deadline with the parent - the time that you book will be the deadline for you to complete the work.
Receive a request from the parent for Marking Time or book Marking Time yourself like you book a normal lesson.
Confirm the booking - to make sure that you’re paid for the work that you do, check that the booking is Confirmed.
Assess the work - the student should send their work over once the Marking Time is paid and confirmed. You’ll have until the deadline to complete it.
Just remember that we must take academic integrity seriously - if you’re concerned about a request from a student, visit this article to see what to do.
What are marking time prices and tutor pay?
Our platform fee is lower for marking time since the lesson space isn’t available. If you’d like to go over the feedback in more detail, you can book in an additional lesson.
