How to plan your programme

I'm a Teacher article! Need help planning your programme? We’ve got you covered!

Updated over 3 months ago

You may have already given some thought to planning your programme prior to getting it set up, if not - don’t worry!

We’ve created some handy points to help you with that.

Keep in mind - your dedicated Relationship Manager is also on hand to support you with any questions you might have, at any part of the process.

Choosing pupils for your programme

Pupils who will engage and apply themselves - thinking of pupils who are really excited and want to take part is really important!

Consider pupils who:

  • May have fallen behind

  • Might benefit from this extra stretch of learning to achieve a top grade

Fill in our Pupil Details Form - this is where you’ll let us know which pupils are taking part, as well as the day, time, subject, level and important modules to cover.

Pupil Details Form

Complete all the details on the form, including the Important Modules pupils are to focus on.

Consider a couple of time slots for lessons to run on - if one time slot doesn’t work for your pupils or there’s a reduced availability of tutors at a particular time, this allows some flexibility.

Add an additional 10% of pupils to the Reserves sheet - this will help with swapping out disengaged students during your programme (if you need to!)

If there are SEND pupils on your programme, note their learning needs in the How this pupil learns best section of the form so our tutors can match their approach to your pupil’s needs.

Holiday weeks and Pauses

You’ll be able to note down any holiday weeks or pauses for your programme on your teacher account.

  • Holiday week - the school is closed for a holiday and you don’t want any lessons to run that week, e.g. Easter half term

  • Pause week - the school is open but you don’t want any lessons, e.g. mock exams

Summer Break

We want to make sure you finish before the end of summer term.

This means that, in some weeks, there will have to be two lessons instead of one (double intensity).

Think about:

  • What works best for you and your pupils to have: back-to-back double lessons, or two separate sessions per week.

Choosing pupils for your NTP

The NTP requires more information on pupils such as UPN, DOB, PP status and SEND status.

Each pupil on an NTP is eligible for support in multiple subjects.

We can’t start your programme without a complete list - make sure each group listed has a full group of 3 pupils.

Pupils must be between Year 7 to Year 11 - pupils over the age of 16 aren’t allowed to be submitted for NTP programmes, this includes GCSE resits.

Find out more about the NTP requirements here!
