What is a tutor profile resume?
Your resume lives on your tutor profile and is your chance to give parents and students a bit more detail about yourself as a tutor.
Anyone reading it has already decided that you tick the right boxes, but they want to get a sense of who you are and what makes you unique.
So it’s your opportunity to share your passion for your subject(s) and for tutoring in general, and let parents and students know what your lessons might be like.
If you’re not sure where to start, here are some things you could include in your profile resume…
About you
What you’re studying and what makes you excited about your subject
Your experience of taking exams at school, revising, and applying to university
Any tutoring experience you may already have
Hobbies and interests, or societies you're part of at university
A great way to start could be:
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m currently studying [subject] at [University Name]. I’ve always been interested in [subject] because of [reason] and can’t wait to pass this on to my students! I know how stressful exams can be, and I’ve picked up lots of different revision techniques that will work for different students with different learning styles. For example…
Tutoring style
How you like to structure your lessons
How you can help your students improve - whether this be grades or confidence
What learning techniques or activities you find engaging or useful
What worked for you when you were preparing for your own exams
Remember, your resume doesn’t need to be too long. There’s no need to repeat your qualifications or university details as this is all already on your profile.
And please don’t include your phone number, email address, or physical address. All contact with parents and students must be done through MyTutor so we can keep things safe and secure. You can read more about that here.
And if you’re still stuck on what to write, remember that you can always ask other private tutors in our community for advice.
