I'm a Tutor article! Check out our top tips for tutoring with us.

You'll start tutoring school lessons first

At the moment, all of our new tutors starting by teaching lessons on our Schools Programme. It’s where we have the most lessons, so it’s a great way to rack up weekly lessons and build up experience. And help kids who really need it.

Each month, we check the number of opportunities available and make sure we have the right amount of tutors to take them.

If we’re seeing more parents looking for A-level Physics tutors, then we’ll invite more Physics tutors over to the private side. We want to avoid having too many tutors looking for work and unable to find it.

We start by inviting tutors who signed up earliest and have the strongest grades.

Lessons on our Schools Programme are:

  • Either with one pupil, or three pupils

  • Allocated on a first-come, first-served basis - find out how to get them here

  • Paid differently to private lessons - read more about that here

Your lessons are recorded

All MyTutor sessions are recorded for safeguarding purposes, as well as to give pupils a useful resource for revision which they can go back to. Be mindful that the recording starts when either of you arrives in the lesson space.

Lesson recordings are:

  • Available to watch for 90 days after the lesson takes place

  • Kept on our system for a total of 125 days

All school tutors are part of our feedback programme

School lessons are observed at random by some of our longest-serving school tutors.

We provide feedback to let you know how you’re getting on, support your personal development and help you to do your best for your pupils.

This blog post (What makes a “good tutor”?) explains the skills and values lesson observers look for, and this help page has more details about the feedback process.

You can check out this article to find out more about the skills and values lesson observers are looking for, and this FAQ for more info on the feedback programme.
