How do I change my payment method?

💳 If you need to change the card you use to make payments, you need to cancel your upcoming bookings and rebook them under your new preferred card!

  • Go to your ‘Bookings’ page.

  • Click ‘Edit’ and ‘Cancel lesson’ next to the lessons you need to change payment for.

  • Click ‘Book Lessons’ in the top right-hand corner.

  • You’ll then be asked which card you’d like to use for future bookings.

Changing payment method for lessons booked before 16th August 2023

Our price band changes went into effect from 16th August 2023, this change wouldn't have affected any lessons booked before this date.

If you booked your lessons before the price band change and now wish to change your card, please double-check that you won't be affected by the new price bands before cancelling your lessons.

You can check this by clicking on the book lessons button on the bookings tab. Here you'll be able to check the tutor's current price band and compare it to what you're usually charged. You don't need to complete the booking if you just want to compare the prices.

If you need to change your card (for example if your card has expired or has been cancelled) and you think your lessons might be affected by the price changes, we have a way to protect you from this!

💳 We recommend that you wait until the system attempts to take payment for your next lesson, and here’s why:

  1. The payment will fail and notify you by email, asking you to enter your card details again.

  2. You’ll be able to log into your parent account and find a red banner prompting you to enter your card to attempt payment again.

  3. You can either click on the enter card details or pay button next to your closest booking and add your new card there. Once it’s added, the system will use this new card as the new payment method for your lessons. You can double-check that the correct card is being used on your payments tab.

Following the steps above will allow the system to update your card details without placing you on your tutor’s new price band.

Please note that if the steps above aren’t followed, and you proceed to book new lessons on the tutor’s new price band, we’ll be unable to refund you the difference!

If you would like to change your card out of preference:

You will have to rebook lessons and they will be at the new price band rate. You need to cancel your upcoming bookings and rebook them under your new preferred card. (We still recommend you double-check that your lessons aren’t affected by the price changes)

It’s really easy to do in a few simple steps:

  • Go to your Bookings page.

  • Click Edit and Cancel lesson next to the lessons you need to change payment for.

  • Click Book Lessons in the top right-hand corner.

  • You’ll then be asked which card you’d like to use for future bookings.

  • Once you’ve changed your card, if you have a recurring booking in place (such as weekly, fortnightly or twice-a-week lessons), the system will proceed to take payments from your new card moving forward.

❗ Please don’t share your personal information with your Tutor for your safety!

Disclaimer:

At MyTutor we don’t store any card details on our website. All payments are processed through our third-party payment system. We’re unable to delete your card details without deleting your whole MyTutor account, and this will also remove and anonymise your data from our third-party payment system, so it no longer identifies you.

Your card details are linked to your bookings, by cancelling the bookings, this will remove the old card details from the platform and ensure you’re not charged, as you don’t have any provisional bookings.

If you change your payment card, the previous details will be replaced by the new details, meaning your old card will no longer be charged.
