How do I update subjects I can tutor?

I'm a Tutor article! For guidance on how to update subjects that you tutor for private lessons, check out this article.

Managing your preferences about the subjects and levels you want to teach is a key part of making sure we can match you with the right parents on MyTutor. If you are no longer wanting to teach a certain subject or level that you’re eligible to teach, you need to update your profile to reflect this. This will mean you won’t get matched with parents and students looking for that subject and level combination.

For example, if you decide that you only want to take on A-level students at the moment, remove GCSE from your profile, and you won’t get requests for GCSE work.

Parents and students invest time and energy searching through profiles for the perfect tutor to match their requirements at that time, and it’s important that they can only see tutors who are going to be able to help them.

How to manage your subject and level preferences.

On your homepage, hover over your picture and name in the top right corner and select ‘Personal details’.

Scroll down the page until you see a section called ‘Tutoring details’. Here you can deselect the boxes under the subject and levels you don’t currently want to teach.

When you have deselected the relevant boxes, scroll down the page and click ‘Submit for approval’. The change will be made instantly, and you’ll stop showing to parents and students for that subject and level.

If you change your mind and decide you want to teach the subject and level again, simply select the relevant box again and click ‘Submit for approval’. Our team will check and approve the change within a few days, and you’ll show it to parents for that subject and/or level again.
