Once you’ve completed your application, you’ll be invited to complete some interview recordings.
Before the recordings
Get to know Willo:
Willo is our interviewing partner, which allows you to record your interview question responses
Using Willo means you can complete recordings quickly and whenever it suits you - you’ll have time to practise and re-record your answers too
All the instructions and information you need will be waiting for you when you get to this stage of your application
Digital ID checks:
The first part of your interview will involve a digital ID check, and you’ll need to use a smartphone. If you’re a UK or Irish citizen, you’ll show your passport, and if you’re not, you’ll show a share code. You’ll also need to show another form of photo ID. A provisional or driving licence is best, alternatively, you can use another form of approved photo ID.
You’ll need to have all physical documents ready before starting the interview. If you don't have them ready to scan, your ID check will fail and you won't be able to tutor with us.
❗ You can only record your Digital ID check once, so make sure you are ready and prepared to complete it in one take!
Prepare a Q&A:
You’ll be asked to prepare and record yourself teaching one Q&A in the interview, but don’t worry - you’ll have time to practise.
We’ll share questions in a core subject (Maths, English or Science) before you start your recordings. You can choose one question from and teach it. You can also find the questions here.
We set the questions to make it easier for you to show off your tutoring skills, so pick a subject you'd be tutoring in and teach ONE question for the Q&A.
Do a practice video
You can record a practice video on Willo to get you used to the tech - and don’t worry, we won’t be able to view it.
During the recordings
Answer some questions: you’ll answer some questions to make sure you’re the right fit, show off the Q&A you prepared above and do some verification checks
After the recordings
Complete your profile: you’ll be redirected back to your MyTutor account, where you can continue filling out your profile until you hear back from us about the outcome of your interview.
Your interview results: our team of experienced tutors will mark your interview, and you’ll get an email to tell if you if you were successful or not.
Good luck!
