What can’t our tutors help with?
Here at MyTutor, we take academic honesty very seriously. Our tutors are studying at top UK universities and act as great role models, and therefore will only be able to help with legitimate tutoring requests.
We understand that with the pressure of upcoming assessments, which are often remote, students might be tempted to request help from our tutors which constitutes cheating or plagiarism. On top of it being wrong, and the importance of students' learning, plagiarism is prohibited by all schools and universities. If students are caught plagiarising or cheating, they can face penalties, fail their course, and even be suspended or expelled.
How MyTutor keeps on top of this:
Our Tutor Matching team is trained to recognise signs that can indicate cheating or plagiarism when reviewing requests
We’ll lock accounts of users who we have reason to believe are attempting to cheat or plagiarise
Where we have evidence that a student has knowingly asked a tutor to help them cheat or plagiarise, we’ll close their account and/or remove access to the platform
What does this mean a tutor can’t do for a student?
A tutor cannot mark a piece of work that is clearly part of a student’s official coursework or exams
A tutor cannot write an example answer to a very specific question.
Our tutors can’t help with work of this nature as they must uphold academic integrity. But, they can:
Help you get prepared for your exam as best they can
Work through practice questions with you, as long as they don’t contribute towards your final grade
Our tutors are trained to recognise a plagiarism request and will turn down the work and flag it with our Support Team.
As mentioned earlier, if we find evidence of the above, we’ll lock your account and you won’t be able to engage in lessons until further notice.
