Cancelling a lesson
You can cancel a lesson if it's due to start in over 24 hours. This way, the parent has plenty of warning that the lesson is not going ahead.
To do this you will need to go to your “Bookings Page” and edit the booking.
Once you cancel a lesson, it won't appear in your bookings
If a lesson is due to start in under 24 hours, you won't be able to cancel the lesson this way. You can read our refund policy here. Alternatively, you can reschedule the lesson (see below).
Rescheduling a lesson
If you aren't able to make the scheduled time for a lesson, you can suggest a new time to the parent/student. The pop up below will show when you select ‘reschedule’. Find a new time that works for you and update the request.
It’s always worth dropping the parent a message to let them know you’re rescheduling/cancelling just so they’re kept in the loop. If your student doesn’t attend a meeting or lesson, you can do the same.
Accepting a Reschedule Request (Within 24 hours)
If a parent sends you a reschedule request with less than 24 hours until the start time you will need to make sure you accept or decline it. If you can make this new time then you will need to make sure to accept this. You will only be paid for the new lesson. If you don’t want to reschedule the lesson then you will need to decline this to make sure you are paid for the original lesson.
What if I need to cancel late for a reason outside my control?
As a tutor, you’re responsible for letting us know in plenty of time if you can’t make a lesson. That means you need to make sure you are:
- Planning ahead so you know you can manage your lessons alongside your other commitments
- Taking time off if you’re struggling with health or other commitments
- Managing your relationship with the Parents/Students by keeping a clear line of a communication
However, we understand there can be exceptional cases that you may not have control over. If this is the case, please do get in touch with us so we can take your reasons into account. If something comes up that is out of your control you will need to message the parent so they can agree to the cancellation. You should contact us to let us know the reason so we can help if the parent has not responded.
If you cannot refund the lesson yourself as there is there are less than 24 hours until the lesson, please make sure to refund the lesson within 48 hours of the lesson finishing. If you are unable to or it is too late please let us know and we'd be happy to refund the lesson on your behalf.
