All unassigned School Programme lessons are available for you to view and accept directly on your ‘School leads’ page
What are recurring vs one off lessons?
Recurring lessons are with the same student at the same time, every week for a fixed number of weeks. Any slots that are available will be listed under the days of the week. To help you schedule, only lessons that don’t clash with any tutorials you already have booked on MyTutor will be listed.
Recurring lessons typically run for 6-10 weeks, although they can be for longer than this. Schools really value the relationship between pupils and tutors - and pupils learn best when they have the same tutor each week, so we kindly ask that you check you’re able to commit for all weeks listed within a recurring lesson before you accept.
However, we understand that things come up. Once you've completed your first two lessons with a pupil you can ask for one-off cover if you need it.
As ever, if you have an extenuating circumstance preventing you from attending a lesson, then please call us on 0203 773 6020 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, providing at least one-week notice and we will try our best to accommodate.
One-off lessons are often cover lessons (lessons which require a temporary tutor ,as their regular tutor is unable to make it that week). They will only appear on your opportunities page if they don’t clash with any of your current lessons.
How do I accept available slots?
If you have checked that you are available to complete the slots, and that they don’t conflict with prior commitments, then you can ‘Accept’ these slots and they will be assigned to your profile.
To accept recurring lessons you’ll need to click ‘View’ and then ‘Accept all times’. You will then see a confirmation screen. These slots will now be available to view in your ‘Bookings’ tab. You will also receive an email confirmation.
To accept a one-off lesson simply click ‘Accept’ on any of the lessons listed on the ‘One off sessions’ tab on the ‘Schools Opportunities’ page. It will then prompt a confirmation and then these lessons will appear on your ‘Bookings’ tab. You will also receive an email confirmation.
Please note that if you cancel your first or second session with a pupil, we will have to cancel all your lessons with that pupil. You can find information on how to get cover, and more details on how cancelling a session will impact you, in this article: I can't make my Schools Programme lesson, can I get cover?
