All of our tutors on the School Programme will need a valid, enhanced DBS check. (What's that?)
This is because you will be working with children under the age of 18 during school hours, therefore it is a legal requirement for you to be in possession of a valid, enhanced DBS check that details Children's Barred List Information.
If you already have a DBS, please ensure that it meets our criteria and take a clear picture/ scan of the front side. Then head to the 'School opportunities' section of your dashboard, you'll see a window on the right side of the page asking you to 'Choose a file' or 'Apply for a DBS check' with us. If you have trouble uploading your own document, please forward it to support@mytutor.co.uk.
Once you've applied for or uploaded a DBS check you'll need to complete our 1-hour 'Tutoring basics' course, you can do this from the 'Academy' tab of your dashboard - this unlocks after your DBS application is submitted.
You'll get an email that lets you know you've been made live on the Schools Programme when both your DBS check has been completed (or checked, for those uploading their own) and you have completed your online training.
If you can't see the option to apply for a DBS check with us, that's normal. Opportunities with our school partners are highly seasonal with the academic terms, so we wouldn't want you to apply for a DBS check only to miss out on work. You'll usually see it appear from roughly September to November and January to March.
To upload your DBS check:
- Check your DBS check is valid.
- Take a photo or scan of your current DBS check.
- Click on the 'School opportunities' tab of your tutor dashboard.
- Look for the 'Getting started with schools' window on the right-hand side of the page
- Select 'Choose file' and pick your photo or scanned DBS check.
- Enter the issue date.
- Click 'Submit DBS'. 🎉
