It's really important that you try to attend every single lesson you have with your pupils on the Schools Programme. Continuity will help them to build a good relationship with you, and they will benefit from being taught by someone who has an in-depth understanding of their academic needs each week.
However, we understand that in some situations, you may be unable to attend one of your lessons, and require a cover tutor.
To cancel a schools lesson, please do the following:
- Click on your bookings tab and identify the tutorial you wish to cancel
- Click the three dots next to 'view profile' and select 'cancel'
- A pop-up will appear which confirms the date and time of the tutorial you have requested to cancel. Select 'cancel lesson' to confirm the cancellation
- Once you've cancelled the lesson, please immediately click through to 'submit lesson report'. Here, you can submit a lesson plan for your cover tutor to use during the lesson. Please see the bottom of this article for a template of how your lesson report should look
If you’re unable to attend the first or second session with your pupil, you will have to cancel all of your lessons with that pupil. We want you to build a brilliant rapport with your pupil – we’re sure that you’ll agree that missing your first lesson is not the ideal start to ensure this.
Please note that we've set a threshold of one cover request per recurring slot (for slots spanning between 6 to 10 tutorials), if you require more than one cover session, you will risk loosing the entire recurring slot. You should always review the timings of a slot before accepting.
Please note that we will make a note of all cover requests on your profile, which could impact future slot allocation. A cover session can disrupt your pupils learning which can have a knock-on effect on their engagement. Therefore we really stress that you make every effort you can to attend these sessions.
