'What is an enhanced DBS Check?'
An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will include details of all convictions on record, either spent or unspent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 - even minor convictions can be included on the Disclosure. All enhanced DBS Disclosures involve an extra check with your local police force records in addition to checks with the Police National Computer and the government department lists held by the Department for Education and Skills and the Department of Health.
'Do I need to get an enhanced DBS check for private tuition on MyTutor?'
You do not need an enhanced DBS check in order to tutor privately on MyTutor. However, parents do give strong preference to those who have a DBS, so it will be to your advantage during your application.
'Do I need to get an enhanced DBS check to take part in the Schools Programme?'
On the Schools Programme you will be working with children under the age of 18 during school hours. It is therefore a legal requirement for all tutors to be in possession of a valid, enhanced DBS check that details Children's Barred List Information.
If you already have a DBS, please ensure that it meets our criteria and upload a clear picture/ scan of the front side to your profile via the 'School opportunities' tab. If you have trouble uploading it, please forward it to support@mytutor.co.uk.
