The best way to get a refund for a tutorial is to reach out to your tutor. Our tutors are self-employed, and they’re able to refund tutorials that were meant to take place within the last 48 hours from their account. You can reach out to them from your messages.
It’s been over 48 hours since my tutorial
Even if it’s been over 48 hours since the tutorial, please do still reach out to your tutor and check if they’re happy to refund the lesson. A refund will be at their discretion if you forget to attend the lesson, give less than 24 hours notice, or if there are technical issues on your side that are outside of MyTutor’s control. You can read more about this below.
If they agree to a refund once you’ve spoken to them, either you or your tutor can reach out to our support team and we’ll be happy to process this refund for you.
How do I cancel my upcoming booking?
We ask that you give your tutor at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel a tutorial. This way, your booking can be cancelled before payment is taken. Please make sure that any booking changes are reflected on your Bookings page to cancel any scheduled payments.
As long as your lesson isn’t within the next 24 hours, you can cancel your lesson and you won’t be charged. You just need to visit your ‘Bookings’ page, where you can click ‘edit’ and ‘cancel lesson’ by the relevant slot. You’ll also see that there’s an option to reschedule your lesson, but we do encourage you to check with your tutor that they’re available at your new suggested time.
My tutor hasn’t responded to my reschedule request
If you’ve reached out to your tutor about a refund and you haven’t received a response, please get in touch with our support team and they'll be happy to help. Just let them know the following details:
- The name of your tutor
- The date and time of tutorial
- The reason for you're requesting a refund
There were technical issues in my tutorial
If a tutorial can’t go ahead because of technical difficulties on either end, our advice is to check our Tech FAQs for a solution.
