Once you and your tutor have decided on a time and date for the tutorials to begin, you can book in your tutorials by going to your bookings. Here you'll be asked which card you'd like to use to pay for your tutorials. Our third party payment system Opayo will then take a deferred payment of the full lesson cost which will show in your bank as a pending payment. This will be held as pending until 24 hours ahead of the scheduled lesson start time when we'll request for your bank to release the payment to us.
What is a pending payment?
A pending transaction is a recent card transaction that has not yet been fully processed. Opayo takes a pending charge as a card check, to ensure there is enough funds in the account to pay the tutor before the lesson.
What does this look like?
Your booking status will have a Payment Scheduled status. Once payment is successfully received (24 hours before the booking) you should see the booking status move to a green Confirmed.
If there’s less than 24 hours to go, and your booking isn’t confirmed this indicates there’s been an issue with payment so please do check the parent account for any notifications or reach out to support for extra help.
What if the booking changes?
If the booking is cancelled during this time, the pending transaction will not be released and will be returned to the account by your bank. You should see this drop back into the account within 30 days (but it’s usually a lot quicker than this!)
The price is showing incorrectly!
Pending payments will be shown as the full lesson cost, if you should be receiving a promotional offer, this will be applied when the payment is released (24 hours before the booking). Just let us know if this doesn’t happen.
