Why are you using a third party?
Sanctuary Graduates have loads of experience running Brand Ambassador schemes, and will be able to offer our tutors more time, personal support and expertise than we’d be able to if we did it alone. They take care of your contracts, payment and ongoing support throughout the scheme.
What does the application involve?
After submitting a few basic contact details, Sanctuary (the third party helping us run the scheme) will get in touch within a week of your application. From there, they’ll chat to you on the phone to get to know you a little better, and may ask you to record a short video before letting you know if you’ve been selected or not by the first week of January.
What criteria will I be selected based on?
Through the application process, Sanctuary will be looking for tutors who are enthusiastic, enterprising and target-driven. They’ll also be after applicants who have great connections across campus, and are natural networkers. Finally, it’s important to us that you’re a fan of MyTutor and up for sharing what you love about tutoring.
What do I have to do if I become a Brand Ambassador?
If you’re selected, you’ll use your existing uni networks to spread the word about MyTutor, from lecture shout-outs and events to social media posts and society engagement. Sanctuary will help you with ideas on how to promote MyTutor on campus, but you’re encouraged to get creative and put your own spin on things too.
What’s the time commitment?
Overall, the scheme will be a commitment of 15 hours over 8 weeks starting in late January - more specific dates will be confirmed closer to the time. It’s totally up to you how you split your hours over the 8 weeks.
When will I get paid?
You’ll be paid directly by Sanctuary at the end of the 8 week period. This will include your hourly pay of £10 per hour, plus any bonuses earned.
Why is it only for English tutors?
Historically, we’ve found it hardest to increase our reach and build on-campus connections with English departments and students, so that’s where the focus is for this scheme.
Why are MyTutor recruiting more tutors?
We’re not expecting our Brand Ambassador scheme to generate many sign-ups - it’s mainly to help us grow our brand awareness, so MyTutor is a trusted household name amongst all our users. But we do recognise that it may still drive some new tutors to join. Whilst we understand that could be frustrating for those of you who are looking for work, we’re always keeping an eye on our tutor supply (which you can find out more about here).
Will you be sharing my data with a third party?
By submitting an application form, MyTutor will process your personal data included in the form for the purpose of the candidate selection process. The legal ground on which we will rely to process your personal data for this purpose will be our legitimate interest in promoting our brand. Please see our Privacy Policy for further details about how we process tutor personal data.
We will share this application form with Sanctuary Graduates, who will conduct the selection process on MyTutor’s behalf. The selection process will include the screening of applications, video applications and/or interviews, shortlisting of candidates and providing MyTutor with the shortlist. Sanctuary Graduates will also manage and administer the brand ambassador scheme, including by supervising brand ambassadors, providing guidance, entering into contracts with brand ambassadors and making payments.
Sanctuary Graduates will process your personal data for these purposes as an independent data controller. Please see Sanctuary Graduates’ Privacy Policy for details about how Sanctuary Graduates process candidates’ personal data.
