Why do I need a reference check?

Reference checks help us prove how reliable and responsible our tutors are, which means more work opportunities from schools!

Who can I ask to be a referee?

We ask for two references - they can be from friends, managers, colleagues, teachers, employers, or doctors. The only people we can’t accept references from are family members.

What if I don't have a reference?

Don’t worry! If you don’t have any references, you can skip this section and still continue with your application - we’ll check in with you another time. But you might have references and not even realise it, as you can use friends or former teachers.

How long will it take to approve my reference?

It can take up to 5 working days to approve your references but don’t worry, it won’t stop you from continuing your application.

How will my references be contacted?

Once you've submitted their details, we’ll send an email to your referees who’ll be directed to a form that asks them a couple of questions about you. Your referee will need to answer all of the questions before submitting the reference back to us. 

Why can’t a family member be a reference? 

Your references should provide an unbiased view of you, we don’t think we can get that from a family member.
