Refunding a last minute cancellation or rescheduling a lesson at short notice can be a great goodwill gesture if it's the first time a parent has requested it, or if you have a longstanding relationship with them. But we appreciate that if you are trying to enforce a policy, it can be a difficult conversation to navigate. To make it a little easier, we've created a template for you to share with parents or students if the situation arises:
Hi [Parent/Student name],
Thanks for your message. I’m afraid I won’t be able to refund this lesson, and just wanted to share MyTutor’s cancellation policy (it’s here on their website too).
"We have a 24 hour cancellation policy here at MyTutor, meaning if you’re unable to attend a tutorial that starts within the next 24 hours, you won’t be able to cancel it from your Bookings page. Tutors put a lot of prep work into lessons, and set time aside especially to deliver them, so last minute cancellations can have a real impact. For that reason, if you cancel within the 24 hours cancellation policy they’re within their rights not to issue a refund."
I hope you understand my position - let me know if there’s a preferred date to have this lesson. |
We hope it helps!
