Everything you need to know about removing old pricing

I'm a Parent article! Here are some answers to your questions regarding the removal of old price bands.

Updated this week

  • How does removing old pricing help the business or tutors?

In the past, we froze pricing for loyal customers when we made our start-of-year price changes in September. But as we move into the new year, we want to continue supporting as many students as possible and providing a great service for you. To do this, we need all customers to be charged this academic year's pricing. Doing so means we can keep making tutoring accessible for families for years to come.

Find out more about our pricing here and our platform fee here.

We’re delighted that you love using MyTutor, so supporting you to continue working with your tutor of choice is a top priority for us.

  • What can tutors choose from?

Our private tutors are self-employed, which means they choose the fee they set for their lessons (from the 5 options we provide). The price they choose can reflect things like their experience, academic achievements and reviews.

Tutors can choose from the following price band options:

    • Band 1: £25-27

    • Band 2: £33-35

    • Band 3: £39-41

    • Band 4: £49-51

    • Band 5: £65-67

*Lower price is for GCSE or A Level, higher price is for University level.

Please note that whilst tutors will have a specific price band in place, they are often open to discussing and adjusting the price band to find one that works best for you both.

  • Where can I find out how much I’m currently paying?

To see the current price of your lessons, simply log into your parent account here, and head to your payments page. The price of your lessons will be displayed there.

  • What if I cannot continue with the new pricing?

If this update puts tutoring out of reach for your family, please contact us here. We're grateful that you chose, and love using MyTutor, so supporting you to continue working with your tutor of choice is a top priority for us.
