Where does the money I pay for lessons go?
The lesson price is split between MyTutor and your tutor, with the majority going to the tutor. MyTutor's platfrom fee covers the cost of running the platform safely and securely, as well as making improvements. This includes (but isn't limited to) protecting students and tutors with Safeguarding, DBS checks for tutors, tutor training and our Customer Support team.
Why is MyTutor changing its pricing?
We review our pricing every year to check we're striking the right balance between keeping lessons affordable, making sure tutors are paid fairly, and maintaining our quality of service and support for you.
What do the updated lesson prices look like?
We recommend messaging your tutor to discuss the new pricing together. You can see how much they currently charge on their profile, but this may change from the 19th of August.
On their profile, you'll see a breakdown of their pricing by subject and level at the bottom of the page.

What happens to the price if I book a lesson before the 19th of August, and reschedule it after this date?
When you reschedule a booking, it's still an existing booking, and all existing bookings set up before the 19th of August will remain at the price they were booked at - unless the slot is cancelled and rebooked, in which case it will reflect the updated pricing, unless your tutor keeps your price exception in place.
So if you book lessons before the 19th of August, even if you reschedule it for a date after then, it'll remain at the original price.
I'd like to keep the same tutor, but I'm not ready to book yet
The best way to lock in lessons with your tutor at a certain price is to discuss this with your tutor. For instance, if they agree to work with you at a lower price, you can set up a booking together and reschedule the timing of the lessons afterwards.
What happens if I change my payment card after the 19th of August, for lessons booked before this date?
To change your payment method, you'll need to cancel your recurring lessons and rebook them. If you do so after the 19th of August, those lessons will remain at your current price as long as the tutor keeps your price exception in place.
