The MyTutor Tutor Community is an online space where tutors can connect with each other, share ideas and resources, ask questions, and give feedback to MyTutor.
How do I join the Tutor Community?
To join the Tutor Community:
Contact the MyTutor team and ask to be invited.
We’ll send you an invitation to join the community to your personal email address.
Follow the instructions in the email to set up your account.
How do I set up my profile?
To set up or edit your profile:
Click your profile picture in the top-right corner.
Select Edit profile.
From there, you’ll be able to…
Upload a profile photo: We recommend using an image that is 300x300 pixels
Update your headline: This is where you can share a brief overview of who you are and what you do
Select your timezone: Doing so will ensure that any events are displayed in your local timezone
Update your bio: You can share a more in-depth intro in this section
What can I do in the Tutor Community?
The Tutor Community gives you a place to:
Ask questions and share ideas with other tutors.
Share and find lesson resources, including lesson plans and teaching materials.
Access MyTutor support and resources, including training and events.
Give feedback and report issues to MyTutor.
Connect with other tutors and find additional private tutoring opportunities through Student Handovers.
How do I navigate the Tutor Community?
The Tutor Community is organised into different spaces, which you’ll find in the navigation menu. Each space has a different purpose, so you can quickly find discussions, resources and support that are relevant to you.

Announcements
Find the latest MyTutor news, product updates and important announcements.
Discussions
Use the discussion spaces to ask questions, share ideas and connect with other tutors.
You’ll find spaces for:
Common Room – general questions, advice and discussions with other tutors.
English tutors – questions, ideas and resources relating to English tutoring.
Maths tutors – questions, ideas and resources relating to Maths tutoring.
Science tutors – questions, ideas and resources relating to Science tutoring.
Private platform tutors – a space for tutors who provide private lessons to share advice, experiences and tips.
Pay
Find information and discussions relating to tutor pay.
Student handovers
The Student Handovers space allows tutors to connect with other tutors when they’re no longer able to tutor a private student.
If you have a private student you can no longer tutor, you can post details about the student and what they need help with. Other tutors can then reply with their tutor profile links if they’re interested in taking over the tutoring.
You can also use this space to find additional private tutoring opportunities.
Resources
Find resources and learning materials to support your tutoring, including:
Training – access training and professional development resources.
Lesson resources – find and share lesson activities, lesson plans and other teaching resources.
Webinars – find upcoming events and access information about previous webinars.
Blogs – read blogs and articles from MyTutor.
Feedback
Use the Feedback spaces to share ideas and report issues with MyTutor.
New feature requests – suggest new features and vote for ideas you’d like MyTutor to consider.
Bugs and fixes – report problems or technical issues with the MyTutor platform or lesson space, and vote for issues that other tutors have reported.
How do I create a post?
To create a post:
Go to a Discussion space.
Click New Post in the top-right corner.
Write your post and add any relevant content.
Click Publish a post.
You can format your post, add emojis, tag other community members, include images and videos, and embed other content.
You can also save a post as a draft or schedule it to be published later.
To edit a post you've already published, click the three dots (•••) in the top-right corner of the post and select Edit post.
How do I manage my notifications?
You can customise your notification settings so you only receive notifications about the activity you're interested in.
To manage your notifications:
Click your profile picture in the top-right corner.
Select Notifications.
Choose which notifications you want to receive.
You can manage notifications for activity such as comments, mentions and likes, as well as new posts in individual community spaces.
How do I join a community event?
Once an event starts, you can join it through the event page.
If you’ve added the event to your calendar, you can also join using the link in the calendar invitation.
You may also receive a notification when the event is about to start, which you can use to join the event.
How do I find and RSVP to events?
To find upcoming community events and webinars:
Go to the 🎥 Webinars space.
Find the event you’re interested in.
Click RSVP.
Once you RSVP, you can also add the event to your calendar.
You can click on an event to see more information and ask questions in the comments.
RSVPing also means you’ll receive email reminders before the event starts.
What are the Tutor Community guidelines?
Please help us keep the Tutor Community a welcoming and supportive space for everyone.
Treat fellow tutors and Community Admins with kindness and respect at all times. Rude, offensive, discriminatory or derogatory language, personal attacks, or any behaviour that makes others feel unsafe will not be tolerated.
Posts that breach these guidelines may be removed, and serious or repeated breaches may result in your Community account being deactivated or banned.
