How do I improve my internet connection?

You'll need a good internet connection for your online lessons to go smoothly

Updated over 10 months ago

A strong internet connection is crucial to having successful lessons.

First, let's check your internet speed with this site.

  • Your download/upload speeds need to be higher than 5Mbps, otherwise you’ll experience lagging or delays.

  • Your ping needs to be less than 50m/s to get the best experience.

Still concerned about your connection? Here’s some quick tips:

  • Restart your device and your router if possible- an oldie but a goodie.

  • Be close to your wireless router (ideally in the same room!).

  • Try using an Ethernet cable.

  • Close any unused apps or tabs on your device

  • Make sure no-one else is putting a strain on the internet (like streaming lots of YouTube videos or downloading Netflix films).

  • If you’re a student, turn off your camera.

    • If you’re a tutor, please always use your camera.

If you’re in the lesson space and still having issues, check out some other quick fixes to get your lesson going again! It might also be worth giving your service provider a call.

Also, please keep in mind that our platform works best if you’re in the UK.
