How do I get started on MyTutor?

Once you’ve made an account, you can begin your tutor search! When you’ve found the right tutor, drop them a message to arrange your first meeting.

How do I verify my email address?

So you can use all of the features of MyTutor and have the best possible experience with us, the email address for your account needs to be verified.

Verify your email address

  • Find the ‘Ready to find the perfect tutor?’ email that we sent to you when you signed up.

  • Click the blue button.

    • Please check your junk/spam folder if you can’t find this email!

Resend your verification email

If you can’t find your verification email, then:

  • Log into your account.

  • You'll see a banner across the top of your homepage.

  • Click 'resend email’.

  • You'll receive a new email with the subject line 'Verify your email'.

  • Click the 'activate your account' button.

Find a Tutor

Providing key details about the learner's needs can help narrow down the search effectively. These details include specifying the subject and level (e.g., GCSE Maths, A-Level Chemistry), the exam board if applicable, the type of support needed (e.g., exam preparation or topic-specific assistance), budget range, desired lesson frequency, suitable timings, and even tutor gender preferences if any.

Start your search by going to your account, then:

  • Filter your search by the subject, level, price, gender, and availability.

Save a Tutor Profile

When scouting for your potential tutor, you may find several of interest - amazing! Save their profiles to look at them again later:

  • Click Save Profile on a tutor’s profile page, then-

  • Find all saved profiles at the bottom of your Home page.

Message a Tutor

Now that you’ve found a few tutor profiles you’re interested in, it’s time to message them! The free 15-minute meeting is an excellent opportunity to discuss your goals, clarify expectations, and assess whether the tutor is the right match for your learning needs.

  • Click Get in touch on the right side of their profile.

  • Tell them what you’re looking for and arrange a free 15-minute meeting.

You can find all tutor replies in the Messages tab on your account. Be sure to keep an eye on your emails as we’ll also send you a notification once they have.

What next?

Tutors will usually respond to messages within 24 hours, but occasionally it can take them a little longer.

While waiting for a response, you might want to message a few different tutors - organising a free meeting with more than one tutor can be a great way to find the right fit for you.
