How do I book private lessons?

I'm a Tutor article! Find out how to book lessons and learn more about what different ‘lesson statuses’ mean.

Excited and ready to book your first private lessons? Great!

These work a bit differently than lessons on the Schools Programme.

  • Discuss timings with the parent or your student

  • Go into your Messages and click on the parent who you want to book with

  • Click ‘Suggest a Booking’ and wait for the parent can confirm

  • OR the parent might suggest lesson times, which you just have to accept

Once the lesson has been accepted, check your Upcoming bookings to check it’s all gone through. Each lesson has a ‘status', see below for what they mean:

  • Awaiting Payment - the booking has been accepted, but the parent hasn’t added their payment details yet.

    • If the status hasn’t changed and it gets to 24 hours before the lesson, you might want to send the parent a quick reminder as you could miss out on being paid.

  • Payment Scheduled - the booking has been accepted, but not yet paid for. Payment should be taken 24 hours before the lesson will start.

  • Confirmed - the booking has been accepted and paid for. Only Confirmed lessons can be launched.

If after the first lesson with a tutor, the parent decides they don’t want to continue working with the tutor, we will refund the price of the first lesson to the parent as part of the MyTutor guarantee.
